Seasoned Saints of
Marietta Chapel AME

RosaCollins_small.jpg

Mrs. Rosa Lee Benton Collins, a long time planted soldier of Marietta Chapel AME Church; which was previously located in the once segregated section of town on Jones Avenue in Southwest Marietta.  Since the church’s start in the early 1900’s, the Benton family has worked hard in every phase of the church’s history up to today. One contribution is the beautiful picture of the Last Supper in the dining room that was dedicated by Rosa Lee's family. Rosa’s presence and contributions have been heard through her melodious voice as she sang in the early years of the choir.  She has been a long time member and president of the missionary society and stewardess boards where she remains as emeritus.

Mrs. Rosa Lee Collins has been a mighty force, and won this game of life, as it may be.

Mrs. Collins is as sweet as she can be.

Mrs. Rosa Lee makes great sweet potato pies and cakes.

She always gets compliments for whatever she bakes.

She is a sharp sister, whose clothes "always match."

For Marietta Chapel, she is the perfect catch!

Brother Carl Lee Gober, Jr., or Junior as he is known to his friends, is a long time planted soldier of Marietta Chapel AME Church. He joined the church when the church was located in a section of Marietta called Louisville. Following in the footsteps of his family members, he participated in all of the church’s programs. We can say that the Church Village helped raise and molded his life.  His name along with his father's name are engraved on the cornerstone of the church. He served as a trustee and member of the finance team.

Brother Gober entered his eternal rest on February 8, 2023 and will be missed. His memory will forever be cherished.  His family wishes to extend their sincere  appreciation for the many expressions of love made during the illness and death of their loved one.

Brother Gober has now been entered into the archives of Marietta Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
